Jonathan Vaile has performed his poetry in New York, Chicago, New England, and extensively in the Washington, D.C. area. His Pushcart-nominated collection of poetry, Blue Cowboy, was published in June 2005 by The Word Works, and individual poems have appeared in Poet Lore, Gargoyle, Exquisite Corpse, as well as other magazines and anthologies. He is a three-time Literature Panelist for the Washington DC Commission for the Arts and Humanities, has twice received Literature Fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, and was a member of the 1999 District of Columbia National Poetry Slam Team. He chairs the English Department at St. Anselm’s Abbey School in Washington DC and has twice served as the District of Columbia Teacher Representative at the National Finals of Poetry Out Loud, a high-school poetry recitation contest sponsored by The Poetry Foundation and the National Endowment of the Arts. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia and is a very good boy.
