Program: "Collecting our Voices" presented by A Splendid Wake and Special Collections, Gelman Library GWU

April 28, 2016

In celebration of the Washington Writers Archive Collection in GWU's Gelman Library, A Splendid Wake hosted a reading on April 28, 2016 that featured 10 wonderful DC-area poets who have donated their papers to the Collection. The overall intent of the evening's reading was to enhance public awareness of the Collection, and to encourage use of the Collection as a resource for study and appreciation. Featured poets included Sarah Browning, Beth Joselow, Cliff Bernier, Karren Alenier, Sylvia Dianne "Ladi Di" Beverly, Patrick Washington, Grace Cavalieri, Judith McCombs, and E. Ethelbert Miller. Sydney March provided musical background, and Jesse Alexander recorded the event. Elisabeth Kaplan and Jennifer King from the Library offered a welcome, and Jacqueline Jules of A Splendid Wake closed the evening. Ladi Di, Jennifer King and Hiram Larew organized the event, and Ladi Di and Larew emceed it. Phil Raino organized a display of materials from the Collection.
