Edgar Gabriel Silex
Edgar Gabriel Silex is the author of two poetry collections from Northwestern University Press (formerly Curbstone Press), Through All the Displacements and Acts of Love, as well as a chapbook, Even the Dead Have Memories, from New Sins Press. His first book of poetry was nominated for the National Book Award. He has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Maryland State Arts Council. Mr. Silex has been a National Poetry Series finalist, received seven nominations to the Pushcart Prize, and has been appointed Poet-In-Residence five times in Maryland and the Diné reservation. He has also received appointments to the Governor of Maryland Poet Laureate Selection Committee and to the Maryland State Arts Council Advisory Panel. In 2000 he received the Parent’s Council Award for Teaching from St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He lives in Laurel, Maryland.
