Ailish Hopper is the author of the chapbook Bird in the Head (2005), selected by Jean Valentine for the Center for Book Arts Chapbook Prize, and Dark~Sky Society (2014), selected by David St. John as runner up for the New Issues prize. A recipient of support from the MacDowell Colony, Maryland State Arts Council, and Yaddo, individual poems of hers have appeared in APR, Poetry, Ploughshares, Tidal Basin Review, and many other places. She has also published several essays about poetry and race, in Boston Review, When Evening Comes, and Pilot Light. A native of DC, she teaches at Goucher College, in Baltimore.
